5 Micro Narcissistic Tendencies You Shouldn’t Ignore
These micro traits can create problems in the long run.
As we all know, narcissism is a spectrum disorder that ranges from healthy levels of self-love to full-blown Narcissistic Personality Disorder. And while the latter is definitely more severe and problematic, even individuals with milder cases of narcissism can exhibit manipulative and controlling behaviors. Here are 5 of the most common micro narcissistic tendencies:
1) Making subtle (or not so subtle) put-downs and insults
Making put-downs and insults may seem like a petty way to get attention, but it’s actually a common narcissistic tendency. By putting others down, the narcissist is able to make themselves feel more important.
It’s a way of saying, “I’m better than you,” without actually having to do anything to prove it. Of course, this behavior can be extremely hurtful, and it often leads to conflict and resentment.
If you find yourself making put-downs and insults, try to catch yourself and ask why you’re doing it. Chances are, it’s not because you truly believe the other person is inferior, but because you’re trying to boost your own ego.
