It is said that a leopard cannot change its spots. The same can be said about those who have narcissistic tendencies. They might appear to have changed, but they never really do.

A narcissist is a person who has an excessive interest in or admiration of themselves. Narcissism is named after the Greek mythological character Narcissus, who became so entranced by his own reflection in a pool of water that he fell in love with it and eventually committed suicide because he could not have himself.

One of the themes that run through this abuse cycle, With the spouse who is narcissistic is: “I have changed. I’d like to be back. I am a
Different person in the present.” This works extremely well for a lot of Narcissists.

They are so brilliant actors that even the spouse of the abuser is convinced of them. She’s been waiting for these words for a long time.

She is convinced that the man has changed himself. He is still a loving husband who has hurt her for several years. She returns him and is soon to discover that he is back to purchase something is his desire.

I survived narcissistic abuse and transformed my pain into power. Now I help others escape toxic relationships and build the life they deserve.
