If you were in a relationship or are currently in one, then I am sure you might have come across a narcissist at some point. If you are not aware of narcissism, then it can be defined as a character disorder with three common symptoms.

  1. There is an inflated sense of self-importance,
  2. The need to control
  3. The lack of empathy.

The condition affects 1 in 10 people, according to the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH). It’s the behavior of a narcissist that makes them a dangerous partner and a person who needs to be avoided at all costs. Narcissistic abuse is the name given to a group of behaviors that people use to control others. It’s done by a person who thinks of themselves as superior to others and shows their superiority. They use abusive and manipulative techniques to get what they want from others.

Most people think that all abusers are bad, but most abusers have some reason to be abusive. They usually feel bad about themselves, and they need to justify their bad behavior. This leads to narcissistic abuse. There are five reasons why narcissists are abusive.
